Today's For Goodness Sake segment we featured Jody Steinhaur who is the founder of Project Winter Survival....she was recommended by Lorne Simon, and when she told her story I can totally see why she is amazing... 11 years ago she founded Project Winter Survival, it's an organization that builds survival kits for the homeless to help them from freezing to death, and they can build the kits with generous donations for only $25, but worth $165 (their are 32 items in the survival kits)....last year they made 2500 survival kits for the homeless and this year they are short, about 600 kits short, and they need everyone's help....Jody is so great at getting donations but she says they still need help. Monetary and other...such as they are hoping people can donate new unused packaged back packs...doesn't have to be fancy or anything....Also needed are 700 pairs of Men's winter gloves and new insulated beverage cups with lids! Or definitely a monetary donation so they can go out and purchase these items for the Survival kits.
100% of all the Money donated goes to purchasing the items...Project Winter Survival finances all expenses and overhead costs....All Money donated gets a tax receipt from the Salvation Army for the full amount ($25 or more)...
So many ways that you can help out, either drop off the items, Backpacks, men's winter gloves or Insulated Beverage cups with lids at the Bargain's Group location, at 890 Caledonia road in Toronto...
Survival kits get distributed to selected agencies and outreach service providers in January (approximately 90 of them) and these kits last them the balance of the winter season....
Check out the Project Winter Survival Team, the Founder Jody, Lorne who recommended Jody and some of the volunteers!! So..go out and do some good For Goodness Sake!!
